So Much for Being a Slacker

Feb 16, 2005 Filed under: Life

Guess what? We. Got. The. Job. How is that freakin’ possible? Who cares! I am now a full-time PHP programmer at some-company (I don’t want to say it yet, I might jinx it ;) ) in Valero Street, Makati. I still can’t effing believe it even until now. Then why am I still miserable? Because I am also a FULL-TIME STUDENT at some-school in Makati. I sorted out my schedule with one of my professors and the other one will be alright with it, I hope. And oh, my thesis groupmates are so going to kill me. Next time you go to Ayala and see a walking zombie with humongous eyebags? I’ll bet you a hundred bucks that it’s me. Hmm…I wonder what will I do with my first salary?

Stupid Non-Holiday

It’s Valentine’s Day and what am I doing here blogging? It’s because I’ve got no plans. Zip. Zilch. Nada. It’s a stupid non-holiday anyway so why celebrate it (guess where all the bitterness is coming from). I wanted to ask out somebody when she told me that she also doesn’t have any plans for tonight but I just couldn’t do it. I am so freakin’ stupid.

Went to school as usual this morning and it’s kinda creepy in there because all students are wearing black. I guess the silent protest pushed through. Good thing I also wore a black polo and not be deemed an “outsider” again.

And oh, we had our second job interview at Broadlines last Thursday. I was shaking so much but words still manage to came out off my mouth. That’s the first time I ever had a conversation with an American that lasted more than a minute. It is a pretty big deal since I always thought I’m only good in written but not in spoken english. Thanks to Kat for that daily english practice over the phone, I owe you one!

Waiting is excruciating. I just can’t explain how awesome it is if we manage to get the job. I love the job, the office, the people and the location. It’s a couple of blocks away from my college, a step away from the gym, and Starbucks and KFC are both just around the corner. And oh, Greenbelt is also just a walkway away. Taking the job means much much lesser time to sleep and do the things that I love (tv, movies, surfing about nonsense stuffs) but I don’t give a damn because I’m being productive. In case I haven’t mentioned, we are applying to become PHP programmers. Pretty serious stuff.

A Very Long Ramble

It’s the weekend and I’m having a horrible time. It started yesterday when I’m suppose to meet-up with a friend (if you’re reading this, you know who you are…eheheh) and ended up with him cancelling due to ‘various conditions he cannot control’. That is after I’ve went back to our house, faced the rush hour traffic while in a stinky bus, walked from EDSA to Rufino, waited for 3 hours and drank 2 tall-sized lattes. It’s alright though since I had a seven and a half hour break and I’ve got nothing to do anyway. Went back to school at 7:30 pm only to find out that our professor would just say a couple of sentences and dismiss us early. Bummer.

Today, woke-up at 5 in the morning to practice driving. I still don’t know how to park right! If that wasn’t an empty parking lot, I might have hit a dozen cars. Went to school at 8 am only to find out that we’re going spend 4 hours in the computer lab to finish our machine problem. I hate assembly language…I don’t care how small or fast programs will run if written in assembly, you can’t appreciate it anyway after your brain explodes.

Decided to spend my four and a half hour break at Powerplant to finally watch A Very Long Engagement. Found out that I don’t have enough money in my wallet after I had my lunch. Went to ATM at the basement, card not working. Tried the ATM in the top floor, card not working. Tried the ATM a couple of blocks away, card still not working. Ended up going home with only 20 bucks in my pocket, just enough for the fare.

I’m just now going to stay here at home. I’m not going to attend my Java class to avoid any more bad luck. Here’s hoping they don’t do anything important.
