Who’s gonna play with me?

Aug 12, 2006 Filed under: Life

So, I haven’t posted an entry in quite a while, that’s because this past few days has been quite a routine lately and becoming really boring. I’m halfway in completing that 240 hours required for the internship and I couldn’t wait for the day that I don’t have to wake-up early anymore.

Things are going well with my project, having discovered a JavaScript library called Scriptaculous. Basically it has everything you need to get that fancy effects needed for your Web 2.0 applications, coupled with AJAX calls of course. I just hope that when I present this to a team of panelists at school they recognize how difficult it is to make. That’s what sucks with school defense, they throw all of this nonsense questions and try to sound smart without even knowing how the program works or how it is done. Some of them will comment, “that thing is easy to do. It’s just JavaScript and PHP” and surprisingly, none of them has written a single line of code in their life. I’m not generalizing of course, there are some professors who are actually good and try to criticize subjectively.

I’m in the Power Plant Mall now, doing my usual saturday thing. My class starts later at 4:30 so I have a good 5 hours to hang out, go watch a movie and eat. The only problem is I only have 400 bucks in my wallet (well, 300 now because I spent a hundred on my coffee…why do I have to do that?). Pity, I really want to play Time Crisis 4 which by the way is uber cool. Not only do you get to shoot bad guys with nice guns, they also have this robot spiders and robot insects which you will have to shoot with your machine gun and go crazy! That spells F-U-N!

Arghh…I’m thinking of not going to class later…somebody stop me!!! Whoa! I just remembered I still have 200 bucks on my ATM, I might be shooting spider robots after all!

Is that seat taken?

I ride the MRT everyday at the Taft station and every time I find it funny that there are loads of people falling in line in the counter where they can just walk straight to the functional ticket vending machine and be riding the train in 5 minutes. Don’t they have enough change or are they just afraid that the machine’s gonna eat them? Ironically, once I’m done with the machine, there are several people standing behind me.

It’s nice that they finally decided to use those RFID readers after being installed months ago. Unfortunately, Globe Telecom is handling it and they dubbed it G-Pass. Why unfortunate? You have to have a Globe number to buy one. You also get charged a little extra than the normal fare which is stupid because with Hong Kong’s Octopus cards, you actually get a discount when you use it. And they also thought that it might be cool to place the chip inside a plastic coin chip that can easily be misplaced. Anyway, bashing aside, I’m just glad that it’s finally implemented. It’s kinda cool that I’m tapping my wallet twice now, one in the MRT and another at the entrance at school.

It’s New Music Tuesday so here’s some nice albums to check out if we both like the same kind of music:
