Doesn’t it just frustrates you that there are not enough information of movie release dates here in the Philippines? If we’re lucky, high profile movies get released before or at the same date as it is in the US. Often times, we actually have to check the newspapers to know what is showing next week.

Luckily, SM Cinema has made available a downloadable excel file that outlines the movie releases in 2008. Since I am a heavy iCal user and want this data available when I need it, I decided to transfer it to iCal. I know a lot of you out there could use this info yourself so I’m publishing it here. Just click on the appropriate links to subscribe.

Madness? This is Sparta!

Mar 9, 2007 Filed under: Movies

This blog is said to be blogging about all things awesome. It won’t live up to its tagline when I don’t write something about 300, the most awesome movie ever. Keep in mind that I saw it on IMAX so the exaggeration can be the result of the whole “IMAX experience”

First of all, I only heard about the movie because it’s currently the favorite topic on Digg right now. Call me dumb or an idiot but I don’t really know any of Frank Miller’s work except for Sin City and I didn’t know the story of the Spartans. Sure, I heard about it and they probably thought it in my high school but I’m not exactly sure what happened…I always taught Sparta is a brand of underwear. Anyway, I saw the trailer and it looks absolutely stunning so that got me hooked.

A lot of movies have tackled ancient battles and not quite did they live up to 300’s gorgeous scenes. Watching it feels like a good cut-scene from a video game and I mean that in a very good way. From the brilliant use of matrix-style slow motion effects to the artistic shots and cinematography, I just couldn’t stress enough how stunning it is.

Arghhhh…MONDAY! Don’t you just want to hit that stupid fucking word with a pogo stick. I was happy yesterday for a moment and still am when I wake up but when I set foot on that stupid gym it sunk in to me that it is Monday, the start of another very loooonnnggg week.

Hold on a moment…did I just mention I was happy? Yes, I am…and it’s all because of Maria. Before you think any further…Maria is fictitious, well she’s partly real but fictitious nonetheless. See, Maria lives in Austria and she can’t just stop singing and when I heard her lovely voice I can’t stop singing myself! Am I making sense? If I’m not then you have not seen a little movie called the Sound of Music and you are missing a lot. It’s my first time to watch it yesterday and man, it’s so wonderfully whimsical. Even now I can’t stop singing and I have the soundtrack playing on my iPod since this morning. Watchit, watchit, watchit. If you can’t find a copy on your video stores I can gladly lend you one. If you’re the same age as mine then your parents have probably seen it. When my mom entered my room she was like “Good lord that is an old movie. Are they showing it now on TV? What channel?” And I was like “No mom, I have the DVD.” She goes “Oh…I remember when I watched that, I was the same age as those kids.” I replied, “What? You’re not the as old as Julie Andrews???” and she’s like “Do you want me to not give you your allowance for a week?” and I was like “I was just kidding mom.” Ahahaha…it was so cute. I haven’t had that kind of talk with my mom for a while.

Enough of those…I’m going back to work. Arghhh…it’s MONDAY! Anyway let me sing…
So long, farewell, I hate to say goodbye…goodbyeeeeeee.

A tale of two cities

Jan 21, 2006 Filed under: Movies

If you’re gonna see one movie this week…forget the unnecessary sequel, forget the silly rumor and carry your butts over to a screening of Little Manhattan. Everything is just so perfect from the gorgeous Manhattan scenery to that unforgettable love story. Heck, even the songs used in the movies are all awesome. I was with Abi when I watched this and when the credits rolled, we both said “Ang cuuuuttteee” at the same time with big smiles on our faces. Watching this film is like eating chocolate, it’s sweet and will definitely make you feel a whole lot better. Don’t forget to bring a date and get ready to say “awwwwwwww” a dozen times.

And talk about the other end of the spectrum, I just finished watching the first 4 episodes of 24 season 5 and all I can say is “Wow”. No other series has made my mouth pop wide open a dozen times by all its twists and turns. Not even Lost. And boy do they sure know how to keep their audience at the edge of their seats. If you haven’t seen it yet, fire up your bittorrent clients now and download ‘em. It’s better than some of the high-budget action movie that is shown on cinemas.
