First day of classes. For normal students, it’s the day they’ve all been dreading for as they will not be able to just stay at home and watch Oprah (OK, maybe the Oprah part is not for the normal ones). Yesterday is that day for Mapuans and the weirdest thing is… I was excited. I really am. After being gone for almost 6 months, I was excited to see the inside of a classroom again, to be with people the same age as I am and to learn something new.
From the moment I woke up, I know that day should be special. I ditched my usual work get-up of knitted polo and replaced it with a fitted vintage tee, faded jeans and chucks. I waxed my hair pointing up in the way that birds who accidentally land on it would die immediately. I looked at the mirror, muttered “I’m in college again,” and beamed my best toothpaste commercial smile. Enough of that, it only shows how much of a nerd I am.
Work, work, work, scrap that. Surf, surf, surf the web at work until 5:30pm. I quickly left work and rushed into school even though my class won’t start until 6. I lost my ID already so I have to fight with the guard and say that I’ll have it replaced immediately. I bumped into some of my old friends and had a little chat. When I said that I resigned from work to go back to studying they all say “Are you fucking crazy?” If only they have any idea how much my work sucks.
For now I was able to enroll only 1 subject which is Modeling and Simulation Theory, a hard one I heard. I intend to change that and enroll in a tutorial class for the other subjects as financially possible. I have 7 left to take before I can receive that precious diploma. Here’s hoping this is all done by the end of the year or earlier so I could start my journey on becoming a pilot.
And so it begins:
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S. CS) > Private Pilot (PPL) > Commercial Pilot (CPL) > Airline Transport Pilot (ATPL) > World Domination
