Actually I doubt the 2010 campaign would succeed and the majority of the Filipino public doubt it in fact... Even in Davao with Duterte's militant strictness against it there are people still violating those anti-firecracker ordinances... Same goes for those ordinances passed during Martial Law by Marcos. Hell I know someone who will literally cut off one of his pinkies if they did as a wager as to if they did succeed with making the country firecracker "free" by 2010, which I hope he would not need to.

I personally find quiet New Years OVERRATED (can't emphasize that enough) and AWFULLY BORING! I did experience one New Year that was firecracker free (in TX) and guess what I literally forgot it was New Year a week after January 1st. That's just how bad it is! Nothing beats 150db noise (the louder the better!) and the smell of gunpowder when greeting in the New Year at the stroke of midnight. At least with those things, I know right then, right there that its really New Year.

What the government can do is invest in more higher quality firecrackers/works the way people in like China do. They should also at least advertise safety methods on how to handle them and how to clean up firecrackers that don't light and the like. There's a whole list of things they can do to ensure that the loudness (which I'm proud of) is maintained while making it at least a bit safer rather than just ban them...
